The Decline and Fall of Modern Art

Headline: Logger hauls away sculpture mistaken for wood pile

The sculptor told CTV, “I think I’ll have to have a sign put up, but part of the art is to work in harmony with nature surrounding it.”

Fortunately, he seems to have taken the incident in good humor.

  1. Are we missing the point here? Not playing our part in this happening? First the artist talks the university into, unwittingly, honoring it’s deadwood. Just act one, in this three act happening. Did the artist anticipate, in fact count on, the inevitable act of “desecration”, and all the headlines and the outrage? Is his message this — not art at all, just a pile of deadwood, as the logger so clearly saw.
